Zoe-perry
Perry was born in Chicago to the actors Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. In the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as as seen through flashback), her mother portrayed Jackie Harris in two of Perry's initial TV roles. Her parents did not allow her to perform by her parents until she reached an adulthood stage, because they were concerned about the strain it might create. Perry said she felt shy to act in high school but began acting in the theater at Northwestern University as a way to meet new people after she transferred from Boston University. Perry, after graduating from Boston University, relocated in New York in search of television roles. She landed small parts on TV shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent. However, homesickness brought her back to California in search of theater jobs. The Other Place was performed by her and her mother in 2013 on Broadway in 2013 In 2015, she was a part of her father and Kevin McKidd in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning film Anna Christie at the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West Los Angeles. Perry was a part of nine episodes of ABC's show The Family. In 2017 she had her own recurring part on the ABC drama about politics Scandal with her father. She played the role of the younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off series of CBS's The Big Bang Theory was another younger portrayal of her mother. The actress was chosen for the role despite having a close relationship with the character's family.
